Integrated v7000 Updates FAIL via FSM
« on: October 29, 2013, 12:05:58 PM »
Hello all,

My v7000 updates are failing when trying to go from 7.1.0.3 to 7.1.0.5. It is complaining about not being able to download the upgrade test utility. I ran the test manually from the v7000 CLI and it had no errors so when I told the FSM to IGNORE the test utility it still failed (probably because it couldn't download it.) I tested my internet connection under 'Service and Support Manager' and my connection is good. I will open a ticket with IBM and reply with their findings.

Thanks!

Turns out per IBM Support that version 7.1.0.5 CANNOT be updated via the FSM. So I had to update it via CLI, the old fashioned way.

COME ON IBM!

New Update - 11/18/13

With version 7.1.0.6 we were able to successfully install via the FSM. It failed at first but after running the below command via the FSM CLI we were golden.

USERID@gvicfsm:~> smcli cleanupd -amv

-a (means ALL updates will be deleted)

-m (means the update metadata will also be deleted)

-v (Writes verbose messages to standard output. If this option is not specified, this command suppresses noncritical messages.)

Thanks!

I prefer Update directly from V7000 GUI. :)

Yes but just trying to test out what the FSM is built to do. When it works through the FSM it is FAR easier to do, no downloading of upgrade test, no download of package, just click-click-finish.  8)
